Designed prior to 1888 these De Morgan animal designs often include grotesque or comic elements. They are painted on an aged speckled engobe background coating before being hand coated with a deep crackled glaze. The painting, engobe and over glaze react together during firing to bring each creature uniquely to life. Priced from £26.95 + VAT each, these tiles are 6" x 6" (152mm x 152mm) x 9mm thick.
