Each animal is outlined onto an engobe and decorated using individual brush strokes giving each animal its own unique character.

Priced at £26.95 + VAT each, these tiles are 6" x 6" (152mm x 152mm) x 9mm thick. Ideal for general wall use or as fireplace tiles.

    William De Morgan: Fantastic Birds

Designed in his Chelsea Period De Morgan produced fantastic bird 1 and 2 as part of a three tile panel that also included an uroboros. The three tiles are unified by a meandering branch and leaves. The uroboros will be added to the range in the near future. The strength of design and richness of the under glaze colours give thes tiles a gem like quality.

    Priced at £32.10 + VAT each, these tiles are 6" x 6" (152mm x 152mm) x 9mm thick.

    William De Morgan: Fantastic Animals

Whereas De Morgan’s flowery images are reminiscent of William Morris’s floral designs the animal designs are distinctly his own. They are partly drawn from his detailed knowledge of medieval illustrated manuscripts and partly from his vivid imagination. These fantastic imaginary creatures are outlined onto an engobe and decorated using individual brush strokes before being bathed in an overglaze giving character and life.

Priced at £29.95 + VAT each, these tiles are available in either red, green, blue or manganese and are 6" x 6" (152mm x 152mm) x 9mm thick. Ideal for general wall use or as fireplace tiles.

De Morgan designed many variations of floral designs but most were based on daisies, roses, sunflowers or carnations. Probably the most popular tile De Morgan made was the BBB tile. This was originally designed for the Victorian fireplace company Barnard Bishop and Barnard from which the sunflower design gets its name. Many of the tiles include a left and right facing design to allow the tiles to connect vertically and some are cleverly designed to connect both horizontally and vertically.

These tiles are 6" x 6" (152mm x 152mm) x 9mm thick. Ideal for general wall use or as fireplace tiles.

William De Morgan produced eighteen standard galleon designs. They were inspired by the Medieval and Tudor ships shown in manuscript illustrations such as those carrying the hero`s of Morte d`Arthur or the warring kings of Froissant. They are distinctive for their fanciful interpretation and the use of stylised waves often with playful fish and sea monsters. The ships are usually in full sail with exaggerated flowing pennants.
