Our Victorian tiles are full of the same individuality and life as the originals because we use the same hand making and glazing techniques used by the 19th century Victorian manufacturers. Our tile collections include not only Victorian colours but authentic reproductions of tiles designed by the designers William Morris, William De Morgan and Philip Webb. Careful research and development carried out over many years by Kenneth and Ann Clark of Kenneth Clark Ceramics years have enabled us to bring you some of the most respected and authentic reproductions. Great care is taken to reproduce each tile using, wherever possible, the original techniques, glazes and materials. Often modern materials are too refined to achieve the character, life and variation that are so striking in the original tiles.
Variation in painting and colour is an inherent quality of these tiles and so tiles may vary considerably to the images shown throughout this website. Every tile we produce is beautiful in its own right. Orders made up of a quantity of tiles will be painted to order so variation from tile to tile will work as a feature of the set.
William Frend De Morgan was the most important and innovative potter of the 19th century. His distinctive style and glorious lustres are instantly recognisable.
Morris was educated at Marlborough and Exeter College, Oxford. Later he formed a company of designers and decorators with other very talented friends Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co.
